Mette getting in the holiday spirit.
I realize that it has been forever since I have blogged anything at all. I suppose I could try and catch up, but I think my odds are better if I just start with where we are now. I can say that school for both the kids is going great. We love Otto’s Kindergarden teacher and he does as well. He is really starting to read and is excited to head out the door each day. He wishes (actually we all do) that there was more time before and after school to play on his own, but we have been trying to keep the weekends low key to allow him plenty of time to fart around. Kids need that, and Otto is no exception.
Mette loves Kinderfolk and seems to be making some nice friends in her class. She comes home with all kinds of cool projects and after a small revolt in the cleaning up department seems to be fitting in quite well.
How they are going to be four and six in a few weeks is beyond me. But let’s not dwell on that, we can still talk about the holidays.
These two are so helpful when you are trying to pack!
We took Otto and Mette out of school the last week before break and headed to Florida. We spent a few days in Jacksonville visiting family, LouMoma and Grandma Bah and then we traveled with Grandma Bah to Disney for a few days.
Mette and LouMom laughing it up!
Not surprising the kids (and the big kids) had a wonderful time. Our timing was perfect. The park wasn’t crowded at all and the weather was perfect. 80 and sunny with a light breeze. We even went swimming! On the day we left it was 55 and raining. I think we timed that just right!
Pink Teddy and Aligator getting the royal treatment as we checked into the Polynesian Hotel.
Mette in awe of the Life Sized Gingerbread House!!! in the lobby of the Grand Floridian.
We had breakfast with a popular alien, Stitch.
And his pal Lilo.
These two were getting tired of having their picture taken by 9AM. Can’t blame them really.
Mette and Grandma Bah riding the carousel.
After riding the Buzz Lightyear ride, the first of many times, Buzz happend to be outside. Otto was super excited to meet him, Mette not so much.
Eric and his mermaid dinner date.
Mermaids on the TRAM.
Grandma Bah hooked the kids up with lots of Disney loot. Otto have been sleeping with his new Perry doll every night.
Mette the fairy getting a little sleepy.
The only person Mette wanted to stand in line to meet was Tinkerbell. It was pretty exciting.
Apparently there was a lot of discussion on the glitter in her shoes that was clearly pixie dust.
Bonus, two fairies, one line. The excitement continues!
Pixie dust inspection.
The gang on one of our many Small World trips. MANY. Mette loves this ride.
We even rode it when no one else was around!
The kids and Grandma Bah sitting having cookies and hot chocolate waiting for the Christmas Parade to start.
We flew from Orlando to Philly and spent a few days there visiting with Granpa Chris, Nona Jen and Harry. A nice trip to the Philadelphia Art Museum was in order. As well as lots of play time for the kids.
Post Disney you a quick infusion of culture is important. Luckily we were headed to Philly.
Eric and Otto playing a game of chess in the PMA.
Otto, Mette and Harry all having dinner together at Grandpa Chris and Nonna Jen’s.
We finally made it back home on the 23rd. For Christmas Eve we hosted more family here for a nice meal and then it was time to get the kids in bed and wrap presents!! Not too surprising they were a bit excited and had lots of stories to tell each other before bed. I was surprised though, they were asleep by 8:30 which isn’t too much much later than they are usually up. Eric and I wrapped, ate the cookies for Santa and tucked into bed as well. All of use were pretty tired from all the traveling.
Too excited to sleep on Christmas Eve they were telling each other stories.
Getting photos on Christmas morning is next to impossible. You can see our amazing pink tree in this one as the kids hit their stockings.
Mette in a new dress-up dress with her new fairy wings.
The boys in the back working hard on LEGO construction and Mette trying the wings with other costumes.
Day after Christmas, White Christmas. All geared up and ready to go.
Eric had a kidney stone and was down for the count for a lot of the break so the kids and I kept busy out of his hair.
Making snow angels.
Good friend Sarah Gainer is having an art show at Cherry Alley and on display are some pictures she took of the kids in London and Barcelona. Mette now declares herself “famous.”
I am not going to jinx myself with saying I promise to blog more in the new year, because that is just setting myself up for failure. But I’ll think it.
and try hard too!
